Police identify couple after TikTok teens find their bodies in bags on beach
Police have identified a couple after TikTok teens found their dismembered bodies stuffed in bags on a beach. The remains of mum-of-four Jessica Lewis, 35, and Austin Wenner, 27, were discovered last month just days after they were murdered. The pair, who had dated for eight years, were shot dead and bundled into bags, which were later found at a beach in Seattle, US. Two teenage girls filmed themselves approaching a suitcase with one of the bags in and uploaded the footage to the social media app TikTok. They called police to the scene, who found another bag in the water nearby. Seattle Police Detective Mark Jamieson said the TikTok video was posted the next day, CNN reports. He said: "We're glad the video is out there. We spoke to the people involved and they corroborated some of the information. "The kids found bag on beach, it smelled, they called 911. ... Officers got out there in about an hour and a half, and then officers did further investigation and then discovered that it was probably remains and called the detectives and the Medical Examiner's Office." A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise reward money to help find the murderers. Gina Jaschke, who set up the fundraiser, said: "Jessica & Cash were good -hearted people. "She leaves behind 4 beautiful children. Their parents and family are heartbroken beyond words. Along with countless friends and loved ones." The teenage girls who found the bodies were drawn to the suitcase in the hope of finding money. Their video shows the girls looking at the black zipped-up case before precariously opening it with the use of a stick which reveals it contains a suspicious looking object in a bin liner. The girls in the video also said the suitcase stank once it was opened. They pair called police who later revealed the suitcase and a second piece of luggage found at the location in Duwamish Head, Seattle, contained body parts. Posting the video TikTok user UghHenry wrote in the caption of the video 'Something traumatic happened that changed my life' with the hashtags 'crime' and 'murder'. A caption in the video explains: "We found this black suitcase. We were joking that maybe the suitcase would have money…[But] the smell was overwhelming". One girl is heard telling the other: "Open it! It stinks, yo." They initially burst out laughing before the mood turns more sombre when they realise the suitcase may contain something sinister. A video caption pops up that says "little scared' and 'nervous'" before the cuts to one of the girls call police and officers arriving at the scene.
